Air Cooled Condenser Manufacturers in India
United Heat Exchangers designs and manufactures high-performance air cooled condensers (ACC) for power plants and steam turbines โ condensing exhaust steam and returning it as boiler feed water, without the need for a cooling water source.
Air Cooled Condensers for Power Plants & Steam Turbines
An air cooled condenser (ACC) performs a critical role in the steam power cycle โ it condenses the exhaust steam discharged from a steam turbine back into water, which is then returned to the boiler as feed water. This closed-loop process eliminates the need for a large external cooling water supply, making ACCs the preferred solution for power plants in arid regions, inland sites and anywhere water is a scarce or costly resource.
United Heat Exchangers manufactures air cooled condensers as multi-module systems arranged in parallel rows, similar in principle to an air cooled heat exchanger. Each module contains a number of finned tube bundles through which the exhaust steam passes. An axial flow, forced draft fan is installed in each module and drives atmospheric cooling air across the condensing fin tubes. The steam condenses within the tubes and the resulting condensate drains to a collection header before being pumped back to the boiler.
The scope of supply for a complete air cooled condenser system covers the full turnkey package โ from structural steelwork and steam ducting to instrumentation, drain systems and air evacuation units. Our engineering team works closely with the customer from concept through commissioning.

How an Air Cooled Condenser Works
The air cooled condenser plays a vital role in recovering and reusing exhaust steam from the turbine โ conserving water and improving overall plant efficiency.
Steam Generated
Water is heated in the boiler to produce high-pressure steam, which is fed to the steam turbine to generate electricity.
Turbine Exhausts Steam
After rotating the turbine, the low-pressure exhaust steam is discharged through steam ducting to the air cooled condenser inlet header.
Steam Condensed by Air
Forced draft axial fans drive ambient air across finned tube bundles. Steam inside the tubes condenses into water as heat is rejected to the atmosphere.
Condensate Returned
Condensate is collected in drain tanks and pumped back to the boiler as feed water โ completing the closed loop and conserving the plant's water supply.
Applications of Air Cooled Condensers
Air cooled condensers are the preferred condensing solution wherever cooling water is limited, expensive or environmentally restricted.
Thermal Power Plants
Coal, gas and biomass-fired power stations use ACCs to condense turbine exhaust steam and return it to the boiler โ particularly where cooling water is scarce or restricted by regulation.
Solar Thermal Plants
Concentrated solar power (CSP) plants in arid, high-solar-irradiance regions depend on ACCs because cooling water availability in desert locations is severely limited.
Petrochemical & Refinery Plants
Process steam condensers and waste heat recovery units in refineries and petrochemical complexes where water discharge is minimised to meet environmental regulations.
Waste-to-Energy Plants
Municipal solid waste incineration and biomass power plants use ACCs to reject heat cleanly without the environmental complications of large cooling water systems.
Independent Power Producers
Captive and distributed power generation โ including sugar mills, cement plants and steel mills with cogeneration โ benefit from the water-free operation of ACCs.
Industrial Cogeneration
Combined heat and power (CHP) systems in paper mills, pharmaceuticals and food processing where steam condensate recovery is critical to operating economics.
